Non-Smokers League

For years, the Non-Smoking League has been carrying out initiatives to educate and inform the general public, volunteers, and health professionals about the negative effects of smoking and the habit in general.

Additionally, the League spreads awareness of cessation methods in communities, towns, and other institutions. In 1987, it initiated steps to implement and enforce anti-smoking laws after advocating for such legislation in November 1980.

The League supports prevention and law enforcement programs by participating in the National Committee on Smoking and the Ministry’s Enlightenment Committee.

In the actions it undertakes, it emphasizes:
  • The serious diseases caused by smoking such as premature death.
  • The harmful consequences caused by nicotine addiction and dependence such as premature aging, problems with human reproductive capacity.

The Leagues maintains an office at the Anti-Cancer Association of Cyprus in Nicosia.
